Adult Respite

Our adult respite services are based in Longford. The adult respite service provides short term planned breaks to adults. Individuals will avail of either day or overnight respite services.

The Adult Respite Service plays a pivotal role in supporting service users, Parents / Guardians and their families by promoting wellbeing and ensuring the individual continues to receive quality care in a safe environment. The provision of respite care to service users and their families has been shown to reduce stress for families and improve long-term care outcomes, giving caregivers much needed breaks while ensuring continuity of care for their loved ones.

These services are tailored to meet the unique needs of everyone, offering structured activities, personal care and social engagement. Respite Programmes also promote independence for the person with an intellectual disability allowing them to interact with different caregivers and environments, which can enhance their social and adaptive skills.

Our respite service offers an opportunity for individual’s to make friends, to make connections or access supports in the community, while providing families/carers with a break from full-time caring.
