Training - Industrial Knitting Unit
The Industrial Knitting Unit is a Sheltered Occupational Service. It produces a range of cleaning cloths to many customers.
Cotton yarn imported from Spain is knitted on our five circular knitting machines to produce high quality cotton stockinet, which is taken from the machines, rolled out and cut, weighed, and packaged as per customer requirements.
Some customers require the cloth to be edged or over locked. As a result this provides work for four over locking machines in the sewing unit. The Unit incorporates a P.E. programme, swimming, social integration and weekly town visits to the library. Service users are afforded the opportunity to avail of other programmes such as contract cleaning and the Job Club.
